Natural Hair Care Products

Article Image Most hair care products that you can buy today work miracles on all kinds of different types of hair but so do some simple hair care products that you make at home. There are lots of beauty treatments out there that are advertised as natural or organic hair care product.  Hair care products that are advertised "natural” or organic usually mean that they are free from chemicals or that the product is somehow enhanced with plant or herbal additives. The only way to find out about the integrity of your hair care product is to read the label and find out what’s in it. If it contains laurel sulfate then it is bad for the environment and your health. Unfortunately even organic shampoos and conditioners often contain this ingredient.

There are so hair care products you can make at home. One good hair conditioner is made out of an avocado. To make it all you need is one avocado mashed up with on tablespoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of sea salt and one tablespoon of pure aloe. You mix all of these ingredients up into a paste and then plaster your hair with it. You then cover hair with a plastic shower cap or a plastic bag and leave it in for thirty minutes. The proteins in the avocado will moisturize and condition your hair. After you are done, then rinse the avocado out and shampoo and rinse again for soft looking, glamorous locks.

Another famous homemade rinse that is used to add volume to your hair is a simple bottle of beer. Wash your hair thoroughly and then saturate your hair with beer. Leave on for ten minutes then rinse off. This is one of those homemade hair products that will add tons of volume to thin hair.

If dandruff is a problem then there are a couple of homemade hair products that might work. The simplest recipe is four tablespoons of dried thyme steeped for ten minutes in two cups of water. Strain the leaves from the water and massage onto clean, slightly damp hair. Leave on your head for one hour and then rinse in warm water.

A second homemade cure for dandruff is two egg yolks beaten in a half cup of water that is massaged onto hair and scalp for five minutes. Rinse the egg yolks out of your hair and then follow up the treatment with a mixture of two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water.

If you want to lighten your hair you don’t have to spend money on peroxide especially if you are already a bit blonde. To achieve blonde highlights or streaks squeeze the juice of one lemon directly on your hair and comb it through. Then sit under a hairdryer (if it is in the winter) or in the hot sun for a while. Your natural highlights will soon shine through.

There are some types of hair products that are better bought in a store rather than being home made. A good example is hair dye, which is too fussy to concoct from your own herbs and flowers to make in your kitchen.
