Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)An arm lift or brachioplastiy is a surgical reshaping of the under portion of the upper arm. The surgery can extend from the underarm region to the elbow. This it can help remedy underarm sagging that can occur as the result of aging or weight loss. Although exercise can help tone the muscle beneath the upper arm it cannot cure skin that has lost its elasticity.
An arm lifts is usually performed when the sagging skin appears to be drooping or if the supportive tissue beneath the arm ha atrophied. If the underarm skin if flapping due to weight loss then it is also usually recommended. When this operation is done the surgeon will also take out localised pockets of fat in the upper arm region so the arm has a nicer shape.
Not everyone is a great candidate for an arm lift. The best candidates for a brachioplasty have a stable weight and are not overweight. The best candidate for this type of plastic surgery also do not have medical conditions that can impair healing or increase your risk of surgery. Smokers are also usually steered away from this type of operation as smoking can cause problems with healing.
