The oils for these beauty concoctions would be pressed directly from plants or fruits and then applied directly to the body.
The oils that are used to make lotions and body scrubs are also the same ones used centuries ago including jojoba, grapeseed, yucca, olive and avocado oils. The only difference nowadays is that there is a lot more plastic packaging for these scrubs, lotions and oils. Back then they may have been mixed up on the spot with a mortar and pestle. In fact very high quality spas still do this today in order to ensure that the body is anointed with only the freshest of ingredients.
