Hair Colouring
People have been coloring their hair for centuries using natural dyes and pigments. One of the earliest types of hair dye is called henna. Henna comes in three basic colors – a red, black and a clear blonde. It is more of a coating for the hair than a real dye and once applied it is very hard to remove.
Hair dye is also made from plants and these days chemicals as well. As a general rule the lighter hair dyes require bleaching before the color is applied. It is easier to go darker.
There are also three basic types of hair dyes on the market – temporary, semi-permanent and permanent. Temporary hair color can wash out in as little as three hours if you shampoo it. Semi-permanent fades easily. Permanent hair color is usually applied to cover gray or white hair and lasts a long time. Of the three permanent hair color also lasts the longest and needs to be stripped out of the hair if you want to get rid of it where as the other two types will easily fade away.
