Glycoloic peels are a made from type of alpha-hydrolci acid (AHA) peel called glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is naturally found in sugar cane and also in lactic acid, which is found in sour milk and tomato juice.
Glycolic peels are the mildest of the facial peels and are mainly used in the treatment of fine wrinkling, dry skin and rough skin. Glycolic peel is also useful for aiding in the control of acne and reducing uneven pigmentation. They can also help improve the texture of sun-damaged skin and the severity of the look of freckles.
Although this is a mild facial therapy some people do experience after effects after having a glycolic acid facial peel including stinging, red skin, mild skin irritation and skin dryness. These side effects usually only ask for a couple hours and anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen can be taken to deal with any pain.
