Mole/Birthmark Removal PerthUsually birthmarks are removed with a laser or they are surgically excised with a small scalpel. A birthmark is defined, as skin marking that has been present from birth. Birthmarks usually range in colour from brow to black to grey. Some types even look blue. Round spouts called café au laity spots and Mongolian spots can also be removed using a laser or by having surgery. Moles also qualify as birthmarks.
Usually when a mole is excised from the skin it is examined in a lab to see if it is cancerous. If it is further excising of the skin in the area may be needed. It can also mean that a diagnosis of cancer is possible as well.
Sometimes a birthmark may require more than one surgery or treatment with a laser to remove it depending on what type it is and how large the surface area of skin that it covers is.
