Nipple Reconstruction MelbourneNipple reconstruction is a plastic surgery procedure that is sometimes done in conjunction with other breast surgeries like a breast augmentation or a breast lift.
It is used most often as a phase of breast reconstruction surgery in which the entire breast may have been removed as the result of a mastectomy. In this case the goal of nipple reconstruction is to build a new nipple on top of the breast that built up after the removal of cancerous tissue.
Another type of nipple reconstructing might be necessary to correct nipples that are asymmetrical or uneven in someway. Sometimes nipples are enlarged in order to make the entire breast more attractive. Enlarging the nipples is rarer than surgeries that are meant to normalise or equalise the look of them.
Nipple reconstruction is not usually minor surgery and require general anaesthesia, a stay in the hospital and a recover time of three or four weeks.
