Tanning describes a darkening of the skin that occurs when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet radiation from sunshine. However given that U.V. rays can cause skin to age prematurely not too many people engage in it nowadays. If they want a natural looking tan they may opt to lie in a tanning bed, which simulates the rays of the sun so that the process is more controlled.

Yet another form of tanning is a spray tan. In this case, the tan is sprayed on the body with a mister held by a spa attendant or alternately it can be applied in a tanning booth that is equipped with spray nozzles.

A tan can also be artificially induced by taking certain supplements that have pigments in them that temporarily darken the skin.

All of these treatments are usually available in a spa or tanning salon. Some dermatologists and gymnasium also offer salon treatments as well.
