Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty and Platysmaplasty) Canberra
A neck lift, also known as a cervicoplasty and platysmaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that is done in a hospital. It involves taking the folds and flaps of excess skin around the neck and pulling it up behind the ears so that the area of skin looks less saggy and more youthful. The skin is tacked surgically so that there is less of a double chin on the person. Sometimes excess skin is also cut away to give the area a tauter appearance.
A neck lift is considered to be major surgery and it is usually done under full anaesthesia in a hospital. This is not a simple procedure and it is not recommended for individuals who have health problems or who smoke. The recovery time is usually six to eight weeks and the person usually can’t work for two to three weeks after having the procedure done. However if the operation is done by a skilled plastic surgeon the results of the neck lift can be spectacular and take years off of a person’s appearance.
